The increased blood flow can cause excessive pressure to build up in the head and can lead to headaches.

Obesity

Large fast food portions contribute to obesity. People may be drawn to advertisements featuring large amounts of fast food for a low price, possibly encouraging regular consumption. Regular consumption of fast food can lead to obesity because of the high fat and sugar contents of most fast foods. Complications of obesity, such as heart disease and diabetes, will often surface during middle age.

Increased Cholesterol Levels

Consuming fast foods leads to an increased intake of cholesterol which is highly dangerous for humans. The cholesterol molecules attach themselves to the arteries which leads to their thickening or clogging. This can obstruct the blood flow and lead to high blood pressure. The accumulation of cholesterol in any one of the main arteries can cause blockage and lead to heart conditions.

Depression

Depression is one of the many negative effects of fast food. This emotional condition has been linked to regular consumption of fast foods by a study done by the University College of London. According to the study, people who indulge in fast foods often are 58% more likely to suffer from depression. Fast foods do not contain antioxidants, foliate, and omega -3s which is necessary for good mental health. Fast foods contain preservatives, emulsifiers, thickeners, stabilizers, and flavor enhancers which can affect the mental well-being of the person.

Trans Fatty Acids

Trans Fats are the worst kind of fats to consume. Fast food has predominantly this type of fats. Trans fats are used to deep fry food. These deep fried foods can generally last longer and have a better texture. However, trans fats lower the ‘good’ cholesterol and raise the ’bad’ cholesterol. They significantly contribute to heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

Fast foods are like salt and cholesterol waiting to explode. It’s a huge dumpster of sodium and bad cholesterol. And based on numerous studies, these two elements are proven to be the major causes of heart attacks and other related cardiovascular diseases.

Having too much fast food brings in huge amounts of oils, calories and fats to your body. When these three start to build up within your system, your liver will suffer. This can lead to organ failure similar to the ones caused by excessive alcohol intake.

Low Fiber

Fast food also lack fiber, leading to constipation and digestive problems. Fiber is needed to maintain a healthy gut. It also helps to reduce the bad cholesterol and raise the good cholesterol, thereby reducing heart disease.
